Mauds has been reviewed to death by me and by others but I found out an interesting fact about the Bangor Branch that I had to share with all you Yelpers. In the sizzling summer of 1996 the girls who worked in Bangor's Mauds sold more scoops of ice cream than anywhere else, I think it broke an ice cream record or something. I suppose this just shows how good the branch is. The girls in Bangors Mauds must have had massive biceps by the end of that summer and the tills must have been bulging.

Anyway just thought I would ad that as it is pretty interesting and maybe with Yelps help it could break a few more records.

I'm not a huge fan of ice cream if I'm honest, I don't mind it but I certainly don't worship at the altar of ice cream like a lot of people do. Its ok for a treat and my girlfriend who comes from across the water likes to be taken for ice cream and when she does I usually take her here.

You can get all types of ice creams in here. The usual suspects strawberry, vanilla, all types of chocolates and even pooh bear which is a Northern Irish delicacy. The ice cream in here is pretty nice and you can get it at a pretty decent price from what I can see. The staff are always young girls and if that is the kind of thing you look for in your staff then you will definitely like this place, if you catch my drift.

Certainly a nice enough place to get some ice cream, and its been around for ages so you know they must be doing something right.

It's not too often I turn down ice-cream, and especially not Maud's, but it just so happened that this was indeed the case this particular evening. I've learnt that there's nothing worse than force-feeding yourself when you're about to burst. It's not a good call.

However, the same couldn't be said for my four crazed friends, who were in an alarming ice-cream frenzy, having been turned away from another ice-cream parlour (it was after 9:30 at night), and referred to Maud's. A deft sprint up Bangor's High Street with the slightly more frantic two of the four resulted in a breathless collapse into the ice cream parlour, and two very startled staff.

It seemed that everyone on Bangor had had the same notion that night, for in poured seven or eight more customers, including the two remaining friends, who were now equally as crazed ("I *need* marshmallows!").

Ten minutes later, and my four friends were happily tucking into the delicious ice-cream. At last, calm had arrived. Not for long mind you...but that story is for another day.

Ps. Belgian chocolate is always a winner. And the ice-cream is beaut.
